Carrying on the traditions established half a century ago, RCK Preschool, also known as the Ridgefield Community Kindergarten remains a special and innovative learning place that provides children with the opportunity to explore the natural world and our community. RCK’s philosophy holds a place for children to take pride in what they know and what they can do.

RCK Preschool offers a comfortable and supportive environment that encourages children to learn through play. RCK offers enrollment to toddlers 1 1/2 years - 3 years (with caregiver), 3-year olds, and 4-year olds. A variety of optional, extended day classes are available.

Classes are offered as follows:

Carefully selected materials – blocks, paints, accessories, dolls, musical instruments, books, dramatic play equipment, science exhibits and sensory tables are all a part of the dynamic learning environment. It’s daily program consists of alternating periods of active and quiet activities, allowing time for free play, games, stories, snacks, group discussion, outdoor play and field trips.

On the edge of the town’s business district and in the heart of the historic district, RCK Preschool takes advantage of its locale by making class outings to the firehouse, library, post office, and Town Hall. It also hosts parent coffees and fundraisers at the Community Center.

All classes are led by a team of two teachers. RCK’s experienced staff all hold either bachelor degrees, graduate degrees or additional teaching certificates. All staff members attend continuing education classes and have membership in the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
